My First Season, with Honey Parker
Oct 4, 2025 - Host, Greg Hannah My guest today worked for Club Med from 1991 to 1992, beginning her first season at Club Med Copper Mountain as both a Hostess and a stand-up comedian. Wait—what? Don’t worry, we’ll get into that! She’s an award-winning advertising creative, a former stand-up comedian, and the author of five novels and counting. Her latest series just took gold in the Reader’s Favorite book awards. Along the way, she even stepped into the ring with WBC female boxing champion Christy Martin, and lived to tell the tale. With her husband Blaine, she co-founded Slow Burn Marketing and Slow Burn Story lab, has sold multiple movie scripts, and co-hosted a podcast for couples in business. September 12, 2025 - by Scott Iwasaki Part-time Parkite Honey Parker invites readers back into the undead ride of Sugar Bernstein. “V-Life: Blood Relative” is the second book in her vampire/thriller series that started in 2024 with “V-Life: So It Begins.” The novel, which is available on Amazon, follows Bernstein as she tries to outrun evil and Jewish guilt while traveling around the country in an RV, according to the author. “I knew when I started that it was going to be at least a three-book series, based on whether or not the first got traction,” she said. “While each book has its own arc, there is a story arc that crosses over all three books.” Parker came up with the living-in-an-RV scenario while she and her husband, Blaine Parker, also an author, spent a couple of years driving back and forth across the country in an RV to do their podcast, “CoupleCo: Working With Your Spouse for Fun & Profit.” |

Author, podcaster and part-time Parkite Honey Parker took a literal and figurative detour from her coronavirus-lockdown-inspired “Careful-ish” novel trilogy with a new adventure.
“V-Life: So it begins,” currently available at Amazon and honeyparkerbooks.com, is about a newly turned vampire who lives in an RV — a setting far separated from the comedic and poignant antics of six characters who are in COVID-19 lockdown in New York City, Parker said.

Author Interview - With Honey Parker July 11, 2024. Lily Andrews: Your book has explored themes using new-fangled characters: vampires. What inspired you to do this? Honey Parker: I was looking to push myself. My last series, Careful-ish, featured a diverse group of friends in New York City. I loved them all and knew each one so well that it was easy-ish to write. In truth, I’d had the idea for V-Life first. Mr. Parker and I were traveling the country in an RV for a podcast we were doing. I’d thought, van life would be a smart move for vampires. Traveling from place to place like that, no one would notice that they weren’t aging. Then a close friend’s husband died. In addition to grieving, she was forced to move forward figuring out how to do all the things that he had done in the relationship with no guidance. The tech, the plumbing, etc. It was all on her. It took me several years to truly understand Sugar, my hero, and her plight in a way that I could be comfortable telling it. Lily Andrews: Given that your book has a horror aspect to it, what is it about writing that was challenging when coming up with this spine-tingling tale?
