ABOUT HONEY Honey's been creating in one form or another for decades--as an advertising creative director, a stand-up comedian, and a screenwriter. Her previous books are all business. Literally. Careful-ish is Honey's first foray into the world of novels. It is, of course, a comedy. |
Overeating. Oversharing. Overindulging. Over it all. Video chats.
Not enough distancing. Alcohol. What could go wrong?

And what are people doing when they think nobody is watching? Meet six diverse friends who are COVID quarantining in The Greatest City On Earth. They struggle to keep a social life, pay the bills, find their new purpose, not go nuts and just maybe, have a sex life. How can people in lockdown find so much drama?
All of these, seemingly ridiculous characters have something in common: a standing weekly cocktail date that they are determined to maintain while being socially distant and, well, careful-ish. There’s the nice Jewish fledgling TV news chick with a boss who won’t stop dumping her purse into her green reporter’s lap. The African-American financial young gun, who’s trying to not quit before he gets fired. His white, anime-loving roommate, a mathematician turned chef, whose not-quite-on-the-spectrum antics could drive anyone crazy. The hard-edged Chinese-American ex-floral designer who’s finances force her to move in with her larger-than-life, post-hippie hairstylist friend (who now sports an article in front of her name). A woman who's getting a special “deliveries” from the parcel guy. And the token ne’er-do-well from the Middle East, setting up an obstacle course in his parent’s penthouse apartment. (Can he get himself on that ninja warrior show?) At first, they’re all seem ridiculous. But in a pandemic lockdown, who isn’t? Who is? And who’s to judge...

WHAT PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE TO BE NICE TO HONEY
ARE SAYING ABOUT "CAREFUL-ISH" "Laughter is the best medicine, and Honey Parker prescribes a welcome antidote to the current plague. Careful-ish takes the pulse of a host of stressed-out urbanites who are struggling, just like us, with the insanity of the Coronavirus. It’s guaranteed to have you smiling behind that paisley mask your Aunt Sophie made for you." - David Sheffield, writer of SNL, Coming to America and the long-awaited sequel, Coming 2 America. "Love, loved, it!!!! Funny, clever well-drawn characters, a welcome distraction. I laughed, was surprised, and deeply touched. The characters are incredible." - Pamela Wallace, Oscar-winning writer and novelist "A thoroughly engaging and heartfelt read…wonderfully portrayed divergent characters…a satirist approach to a serious subject matter that includes laugh-out-loud scenes. - Dianne Woodman, Bestsellers World "CAREFUL-ISH offers a humorous microcosm of 2020 to which we can all relate...author Honey Parker weaves a relatable tale told through the lives of six friends, starting the moment they have to self-quarantine in New York City. This funny, yet insightful, fictional story holds up a mirror to life in a modern-day pandemic. Parker dares you to laugh at the reflection staring back at you, even though you just might see yourself when these characters sometimes do naughty, “unquarantine-like” things." - Stacy Dymalski, comedian, producer, author of Confessions of a Band Geek Mom “Lighthearted…Thought-provoking…Hilarious…It was beautiful to read…” - Jennifer Ibiam, Readers’ Favorite “Shockingly and hilariously ‘uncareful-ish’… The real beauty of this juicy read is that…the realities of the pandemic become someone else’s problem…’” - Libby Wiersema, IndieReader |
